The very first Mass-Production Mobile Suit from the Principality of Zeon, it was the first ever mobilt suit to be created in Zeon's fight for freedom and independance. The backbone of Zeon's fighting force during the start of the One Year War until production of the MS-06 Zaku 2 would take over as the main fighting unit and main mass production of the military, leaving the Zaku 1 obsolete and mostly used at supply camps or construction but few Zeon Ace pilots still used this old model after adjustments were made to improve it, the MS-05B, and keep up with the Zaku 2.
At the start of creating a new Zeon character, you will find two stock Zaku 1s in your hangar. While many people will say that it is best to sell both of them to get a better starting Mobile Suit, Zaku 1s can still be useful for starters in grinding their combat skills. Head to Melbourne Camp 48 in your default Transport list and head out from the camp where you will encounter NPCs mostly made of Type-61 Main Battle Tanks and a few TGM-79 GM Trainers. They're not high in rank and skill so they won't destroy your Mobile Suit so easily, so you can grind up your AMBAC skill while working on your main combat focus either CQB or Shell Fire weapons.
Note that in UCGO, it doesn't matter if you destroy an enemy to get a skill up, just firing your weapon on a Mobile Suit or a tank alone will help incease your skill. So when you want to focus on increasing your skill instead of hunting NPCs for some money, use the cheapest weapons for your training, like the Heat Hawk or the Zaku 1's machine gun since they are the cheapest and does the less amount of damage, plus using a Zaku 1 for most of your time training will help since they aren't the strongest suit and they are easily replaceable incase you lose it during battle with NPCs.
